X-ray diagnostics – radiology
X-ray diagnostics, i.e. radiology, represents the basic diagnostics during dental treatment because it enables a general check of the teeth, roots and surrounding bone structure.
Orthopantomogram (orthopan) X-rays show a wide picture of the jaws, teeth, maxillary sinus, nose and temporomandibular (jaw) joints.
What does x-ray diagnostics reveal?
These X-rays do not find all cavities, but they do indicate problems such as impacted teeth, bone abnormalities, tooth and jaw cysts, solid bone growths (tumors), tooth infections and fractures, tooth root fractures, and jaw fractures.
Dental X-rays show the entire tooth, from the crown to the end of the root, as well as the jawbone surrounding the tooth. As previously stated, the primary importance of X-rays is that they are used to find dental problems below the gum line or in the jaw. In addition to impacted teeth, they can detect abscesses, cysts, bone tumors and changes related to certain diseases.
Intraoral camera
At the Dr. Veselinović Dental Clinic, an intraoral camera is also used for diagnostics.
It is an optical device that provides insight into the patient’s oral condition on the spot. It is suitable for displaying tartar, i.e. dental plaque deposits, then caries, as well as newly formed carious lesions next to the old filling. The intraoral camera is also used to gain insight into the existence of an inadequate crown or bridge.
Some changes in the gingiva (gum) can be shown to the patient so that he can see the inflammatory process for himself, i.e. swollen gums. In this way, the patient is warned about the ongoing problem and realizes that it is important to start solving it in time.
Within our practice there is a modern X-ray cabinet, with equipment prescribed and controlled by the Ministry of Health of Montenegro.
Digital retroalveolar radiography
Digora Optime provides a unique workflow for digitizing retroalveolar images using IP plates. These plates provide complete convenience as when using film, and digital images are visible in a few seconds.
IP plates are thin, flexible, cable-free and with 100% active surface. These features provide unparalleled comfort to the patient.
In addition to all of the above, in our office there is the possibility of X-ray printing on film using a special printer.
This is the way of establishing of a so-called dynamic duo, i.e. printing of digital intraoral images without the use of chemistry.
