Dr. Veselinović’s dental clinic consists of a team of dedicated, diligent and passionate professionals, educated to work in various areas of dentistry.
Immediate implant placement is a combined oral surgical and implantological procedure. This intervention involves placing a dental implant immediately after tooth extraction. (The word immediate means instant, urgent.)
In Montenegrin / Serbian dental terminology, this term has long been adopted in its phonetically and morphologically adapted form. And as such, it is well-known to everyone.
When was the first immediate implant placement performed and why was it widely accepted afterward?
German oral surgeons Willy Schulte and Ganter Heimke pioneered immediate implant placement in 1976.
During this procedure, they inserted a polycrystalline aluminum oxide implant in the shape of a cylinder.
After this pioneering endeavor, scientists have conducted numerous experiments on animals. And, eventually the concept of immediate implant placement was introduced into clinical practice.
The long-term success of this procedure and predictable functional and aesthetic results are still achieved today by:
If a specialist examination (accompanied by additional radiological imaging) reveals one of the following indications:
tooth loss due to trauma;
unsuccessful restorative treatment without infection;
inability to complete endodontic therapy,
the oral surgeon and implantologist will develop a plan for immediate implant placement in the extraction site. That means in the same spot from which the tooth will be extracted.

Of course, if conditions for an urgent implant procedure are met. It could be: sufficient volume of the jawbone, absence of infections, and other pathological conditions.
How does this procedure look, step by step?
Like other oral surgical procedures, this one is usually performed in outpatient settings under local anesthesia. Rarely under analgosedation.
To carry out minimally invasive extraction and preserve the integrity of the bone tissue, oral surgeon first makes several incisions around the tooth to be extracted.

After that, he carefully extracts the tooth. Paying special attention to the surrounding hard and soft tissues (especially the alveolar bone and papilla).
This, atraumatic tooth extraction is of primary importance for the stability of the implanted device. And, it is essential that an experienced oral surgeon performs this step.
Afterward, he cleans and irrigates the tooth socket to remove any infected or inflammatory tissue. As well as any remaining periodontal ligaments. (These are fibers that attach the tooth’s cementum to the surrounding alveolar bone.)
The dimensions of the implant for placement he determines using a caliper. (This is a device for precisely measuring the length and width of the extracted tooth’s root.)
Shaping and deepening of the bone socket is done through osteotomy using the appropriate tools.
In immediate placement, oral surgeon uses conical implants, which expand and gradually condense the jawbone. With proper angulation (adjustment of the angle) and palatal/oral positioning, implant quickly achieves stability.
After the bone socket is prepared and implantation is done, oral surgeon performs immediate loading of the implant.
What is meant by immediate loading of the implant?
After placing the implant and achieving sufficient primary stability, the dentist places the prosthetic restoration within 48 hours. This procedure is known as implant loading.

The success rate of integrating immediately placed and loaded implants is proven to be very high: 97–100 %.
These impressive results meet all expectations for a delicate procedure like immediate implant placement.
What does immediate implant placement offer to the patient?
This form of oral implantation (when indicated) has several advantages over delayed implant placement:
It shortens the time without a tooth: you reach the prosthetic solution faster and reduce the number of visits to the clinic. In today’s fast-paced world full of obligations, people recognize the value of time and strive not to waste it.
Immediate implant placement reduces the need for additional, complex surgical procedures, such as jawbone augmentation or sinus-lift. Thus, the patient undergoes only one procedure, and their postoperative experience is much better.
Additional info: Although immediate implant placement is typically associated with the rehabilitation of a single tooth, it can also be performed for two teeth.
Various manufacturers offer a wide range of modern implant systems on the market. However, not all implants are of good quality and provide security for the patient.
Therefore, it is extremely important to choose the right implant brand and the right dental clinic for your implantation procedure.
Oral surgeons from Dr. Veselinović dental clinic, use the highest-quality implants from renowned global manufacturers for the treatment of edentulism (toothlessness):
Immediate implant placement: for you, who don’t want to waste any time!
To conclude: when patients want a quick, effective, and safe solution for a missing tooth with minimal waiting and discomfort, we recommend immediate implant placement.
